Celtic Career Review
A central midfielder/playmaker who progressed from Celtic Boy's Club to the club's reserve side before his departure in summer 1996. He has since enjoyed a long and successful footballing career, albeit at Highland League level.
Upon release he returned to the Aberdeen area and was soon snapped up by Cove Rangers where his inspirational, box-to-box promptings in midfield won him a move to Huntly in September 1998. The following March an SFA tribunal recognised Wilson's pedigree by ordering Huntly to pay Cove a bumper £14,000 transfer fee for his services – a Highland League record.
After four fruitful years with Huntly – where he skippered the side – Wilson moved on to Inverurie Loco Works FC where he continues to star as captain and holds a player/coaching role. Gave a typically gutsy performance in Loco's February 2009 Cup tie with SPL outfit Motherwell: all the more impressive given he had been toiling in his day job as a sheet metal worker immediately prior to the game.
