- In a game that clinches the League Championship for the bhoys, Celtic field an unchanged side from the one that won the Scottish Cup a few days earlier, but Hibs have to make four changes.
- US President Woodrow Wilson has warned that his country is ready for war with Mexico unless they unconditionally agree to the demand of Admiral Mayo's ultimatum. A large fleet of US warships consisting of the battleships, North Dakota & Mississippi, the cruiser South Dakota, a torpedo flotilla and the troop transporter Hancock with 950 marines on board have sailed to join the battlegroup already in the Gulf of Mexico.
- Sir Arthur Griffith-Boscawen MP speaking in parliament praised the valor of the Dublin Fusiliers in fighting in Ireland and slated Irish Nationalist MPs for their previous cheering on news of the capture of Lord Methuen in 1902 and quoted Michael Davitt’s speech at Mullingar:- “She (England) has enlisted every two-legged jackass in Ireland to put down Paul Kruger…We are asked by the Irish press to take pride in what they are pleased to call, the ‘valor’ of the Dublin Fusiliers. For my part I see no valor in anything they have done.”
- It is estimated that 50,000 men from Liverpool’s Orange lodges and the Working Men’s Conservative association will travel to Belfast for Empire Day celebrations.
- A 70 year old unemployed blacksmith, Michael Mahoney was arrested for attempted murder after shooting at New York's "boy mayor" John Mitchel. The bullet fired by Mahoney, who was drunk on whisky, missed the mayor and hit his lawyer, Polk, (who was riding in the mayor's car) in the jaw.

About 10,000 were present at Parkhead, Glasgow to witness a Celtic victory over a weakened Hibernian team. The Celts were at full strength, but injuries kept Smith, Wood, Fleming and Kerr out of Hibernian side. All through, the Celtic were easily the better side, and but for very fine work by Allan in goal and by the Hibernian defence generally, the victory would have been a much more substantial one.
With the wind behind them, the Celts opened with a keen attack, and after five minutes’ play, during which both Reid and Gallacher might have scored for each side respectively, McMenemy, with a low shot which got into the net between Allan and the upright opened the scoring. Allan might have saved this shot, but his subsequent play was magnificent, and he defied the best efforts of the Celtic forwards to beat him. The Hibernian defence under difficult circumstances did well, but the forwards were so weak that the Celtic defence were able to give more than usual amount of help to the forwards.No more scoring occurred before the interval.
On resuming, the Hibernians were without Templeton, who had strained the muscles of his knee. Nevertheless the Edinburgh defence stuck to their work, and the Celts had to work very hard for goals, the second of which McColl scored after McMenemy had drawn the defence. Thereafter the Celtic played delightful football, but weak finishing by McAtee, and the manner in which the Hibernian defence nipped in at the critical moment, prevented another goal from accruing until near the end, when McMenemy added a third.
