Match report from The Scotsman, 30th January 1922
The Celtic had no difficulty in overcoming Montrose at Celtic Park, Glasgow. The game was one-sided throughout, and Shaw had to act the part of the spectator all through. The Montrose forwards were well held by the Celtic half-backs, and never got properly into their stride. J. Hogg at outside left had several fine runs, but he found McNair too ‘cute for him. The Celtic forwards played delightful football, and only the rugged defence of Anderson and Geddes kept down the scoring. McFarlane and McInally scored for the Celtic before the interval, and McFarlane and McLean added goals in the second half.
