A first half goal from Joe Cassidy helps Celtic to a narrow home win. Celtic open up a three point gap from Rangers at the top of the League Championship table, although the Ibrox side have a game in hand.

Match report from The Scotsman, 13th March 1922
[…] Kilmarnock’s defenders carried off the honours of the day in the game with the Celtic at Parkhead, Glasgow. Kilmarnock opened with the assistance of a strong breeze, but play in the first half slightly favoured the Celtic. Only ten minutes had gone when a nice pass from McFarlane left Cassidy with a run in on Heron, who had no chance with the inside left’s drive. Shortly afterwards Scott, the Kilmarnock half-back, met with a leg injury, and he took no further part in the game. Near the interval McPhail struck tthe crossbar with Shaw well beaten. The Celtic took command of the game after the interval, but all the wiles of Gallacher and Cassidy proved of no avail against the resolute Kilmarnock defence. Gibson at left back put in a great afternoon’s work, and Heron brought off many clever saves.

The opening stages favoured the Celtic, who maintained a prolonged attack on the Kilmarnock goal. Kilmarnock broke away, but the home side immediately resumed the offensive, and Cassidy in a solo effort opened the scoring with a shot that gave Herron no chance. Celtic continued to dominate the game, but the visitors’ defence prevailed to the interval. The second half saw Celtic to even better advantage, but they were unable to add to their score.
