• German newspaper describes this as “the first English[sic!]-German football match since the war”.
• Excusing their mistake, if it was the first UK – German meet up on the football pitch since the first war, then that’s an interesting note. Respect to Celtic going ahead with it although it will have possibly created some tension amongst various people.

First post WW1 football match between “English” and German teams. Match between the scottish professional footballers champions Celtic and a Berlin selection from Preussen and others, 30 May 1922 in Berlin Stadium. (Not the present Olympia Stadion) Caption says Berlin attacking midfielder heads the ball while under pressure from the “english” defence.
