- Sunday December 1 Joseph Kennedy US Ambassador to Great Britain “resigned”. In fact he was sacked for telling people that Britain was going to lose the war. Very proud of his Irish heritage, he had a hearty dislike for British imperialism and Churchill in particular. His son was John F Kennedy who would become President in 1960.
