John McLaughlan, Head of Intermediate Academy

John McLaughlan is the Head of Intermediate Academy. He was appointed in February 2009 with the reorganization in Academy structures. John had previously been U19 Coach, appointed in March 2007 when Willie McStay moved up to take charge of the Reserves following Kenny McDowall’s move to Rangers. Prior to this he had been U17 coach.

In his playing career John McLaughlan had a long career with Partick Thistle as a hard tackling left back from 1965, joining them from Govanhill Utd. When he retired from full time playing he moved into coaching at the Jags and was appointed Head of Youth Development. Due to financial matters at the Maryhill club he lost his job at the end of the 2004/05 season and shortly therafter he joined Celtic as an U17 coach.
