CELTIC'S EASY WIN
Celtic had little difficulty in accounting for Partick Thistle at Firhill.
Celtic played like a team which had been together for years, instead of one which had four men from the reserves in vital positions—Docherty (goal), O'Neill (centre-half), Anderson (outside right), and Carruth (centre.) The reserves were the most prominent members in a sound Celtic combine, with Carruth outstanding because of his “hat-trick”.
With McKennan and McSpadyen off form, the Partick attack found Celts' defence too much for them, and with O'Neill keeping a tight hold on Wallace, the visitors seldom looked dangerous.
Celtic had a two-goal lead at the interval, and Thistle started attacking furiously on the resumption, but Docherty dealt with all that came his way with confidence.
Hogg, Divers, and McDonald played their usual good game, and the others paid their way.
Thistle were well served by Henderson, Sutherland. Douglas, and Wallace. McSpadyen was never comfortable against Morrison, and McKennan was too deliberate in his placing.
