Trivia
- [Celtic Friendlies – Home]
- John Higgins played his first team game for Celtic in quite a while after recovering from various knee injuries throughout the season. He had played two reserve games against Airdrie and Queen of the South and it was hoped that this game would allow the young player to make a claim for a place in the Cup Final against Hearts. Sean Fallon was also back having recovered from a leg injury. Jock Stein however was still out or rested. Another absentee was Bobby Collins who had picked up a knee knock against Airdrie but it was hoped that he would be fit enough for the next game against Aberdeen at home and also for the Scotland international against England.
- Jimmy Rowan at outside right was on loan from Celtic to Stirling Albion this season.
Review
Celtic were disappointing at the start and Albion scored first with an excellent goal. It really took until the second half for Celtic to settle. Tully got the equaliser challenging the goalkeeper for a through ball from Peacock which caused the goalkeeper to fumble and allow Tully to knock home. Mochan got a second and Fernie sealed it three minutes later – three Celtic goals in seven minutes.
