Review
Celtic withstood early pressure from Rangers with John Jack performing really well at centre half. They struck on 38 minutes when a Haughney pass was guided on by McPhail and Collins scored. Rangers were level six minutes later. With all to play for in the second half Rangers again attacked strongly and the Celtic defense did well. On 65 minutes Young virtually halfed John Higgins but Haughney blazed the ball over high. Young continued to protest after the miss with McColl shepherding him away before referee Mowat would be forced to send him off.. Tully scored just three minutes later with a cute hook over Niven. Rangers searched in vain for an equaliser.
In the other game East Fife beat Aberdeen 2-1.
