- Celtic departed for Leeds by train on the Monday evening. The game had been arranged at the request of Leeds Utd. as a floodlit exhibition match. Travelling in the Celtic party were Sharkey, Beattie, Haughney, Mochan, Peacock, Ryan, Meechan, Higgins, Fernie, Jack, Fallon, McPhail and Craig. Eric Smith was also expected to join the party from Worcester.
- In world affairs the governemet announced an immediate withdrawal from Suez when they had previously announced that they would not move. This led to growing discontent with the leadership of the Conservative party in governement and a crisis of confidence.
Review
The game was described as good and always entertaining.
Teams
No team lists have yet been found. Tully definetly did not travel and Evans may also not have played. McPhail did not play and Mochan played at centre forward. There is also a degree of uncertainty on whether Sean Fallon played. The times of the goals are also somewhat in doubt and inferred from the little evidence extant and available.
