Review

Falkirk set off at a cracking pace and had to withdraw right back Thomson for treatment after five minutes. He soon returned to the field but the pressure had now switched and it was Celtic's turn to take the ascendancy. The first goal came from a Peacock cross which Colrain got on the end of to lift past Slater. Falkirk equalised from a McCulloch cross which Haffey attempted to punch out only to punch it into his own net. Falkirk got a second on the half hour mark when Moran bundled a cross from Murray which came off the bar into the net. Bertie Auld was having his usual fued with the opposition.
Celtic pushed for the equaliser in the second half and nearly got it through Slater. However Falkirk went further ahead on 54 minutes. Murray hit a well placed shot past Haffey following a clearance from Moran. John Divers pulled one back before the end from a pass from Colrain.
