Review

All the players of both sides found the conditions tricky and slippery underfoot in the snow. In such conditions the game became a bit of a lottery. Airdrie's new centre forward Marshall proved to be a handful to the Celtic defenders. At the other end Chalmers and Divers had chances. In the 20th minute a shot from Brogan produced a goal mouth melee – Chalmers is credited with the goal in some reports but most give it to Brogan.
For the second half the snow abated meaning the game could be played to the end. Divers started a move which saw Brogan take on the defense before cutting in and shooting a curling dipping shot which Samson could do little about.. 2-0. Shortly after he very nearly did exactly the same but this time Samson got morte on the ball and managed to push it wide. As the game progressed Celtic became more and more dominant. Just before the whistle Brogan won a penalty when he was hauled down by the goalkeeper. He took the kick himself and it was saved.
