Trivia
- Second Leg of the League Cup quarter finals played at Celtic Park on a Wednesday evening.
- Celtic had no major injury worries following the game against Clyde but they did not name a team before kick off. John Hughes replaced Lennox at outside left as it was felt that Hughes would cope better with the heavy muddy conditions.
- East Fife were unchanged from the team played the first leg,.
Review
Celtic went about the job of pulling back two goals then winning the tie both cooly and professionally. The first goal came when Kruzycki palmed a corner from Chalmers into his net. Jim Kennedy got the second, a superb bit of scrapping for the ball. And for the third, Kruzycki held a Gallacher shot then let it squirm out of his hands and Chalmers was there to tap it in. Three goals up in the first half. Stevie Chalmers went on to score another three goals in the second half. All the Celtic players played well – far better than in either of the previous two games.
