- On the injury front there was better news. John Clark who had injured a leg against Barcelona and missed the Falkirk game was on the mend and might even have made this game. There was no news on Chalmers who was injured in the Falkirk game. Neither made the game with Lennox coming in on the left wing.
- Jim Kennedy played for Scotland on the Wednesday night in a 3-2 win over Bertie Peacock managed Ireland at Hampden.
- Whilst Third Lanark had put off the financial and 'diplomatic boardroom' crises that had affected the club of late, they were still not out of the woods. Attendances at Cathkin Park were and had been low all season despite the appointment of ex-Celt Bobby Evans as manager (and player when the need arose). Evans had to an extent revitalised the football at Cathkin bringing in new talent with careful signings and though in the lower half of the league the Hi-Hi were playing attractive football again. Thirds had a future Celt Evan Williams in goal with Duncan MacKay at right back and another ex-Celt Mike Jackson on the books.
Review
Celtic out-played Third Lanark and the score could have been a lot higher than 3-0. Bobby Murdoch scored in the first half with a 20 yard shot and Williams was the much busier keeper. Geddes was booked for a foul on Jimmy Johnstone. Jinky continued his magic in the second half giving Little a torrid time. John Hughes got the second goal after excellent work from Johnstone and two minutes later Billie put past his own keeper when attempting to clear a ball.
At the end of the month Celtic stood at 5th in the League table – where they had been the previous month. Hearts had taken over at the top of the table. Morton and Motherwell had fallen away and Rangers and Clyde advanced.
