Trivia
- Celtic had been due to play the postponed game against Hibernian on the Moday but the game was again cancelled due to an icy pitch.
- Falkirk made an audacious bid of £10,000 to bring Bertie Auld back to Scotland from Birmingham. This must have alerted Celtic and they put in a counter bid.
- Jim Kennedy was dropped and in came Jim Brogan; Johnstone having served his director-imposed one match ban was back in as was Bobby Murdoch who had recovered from a groin injury.
Review
Not much luck for Celtic in Dundee. United's Finnish player Dossing scored twice with good goals and Mitchell getting a late third with John Hughes scoring for Celtic in reply. Bobby Murdoch was booked for charging the goalkeeper. Celtic's goal came when Divers slipped the ball to Hughes and he turned and shot quickly.
