Review
An unfortunate disagreement in the Celtic camp delayed the start of the game by fifteen minutes, and ultimately the team appeared minus Meechan, Battles and Divers. Willie Maley and Crossan filled two of the positions, while the third position was not taken up until the second half when T Dunbar arrived from Hampden Park were the Celtic Reserves had been engaged in a Combination fixture.
It had transpired that the reason of Meechan, Battles and Divers refusing to take the field was on account of recent press critisism and they had asked the Celtic Committee to eject the pressmen from the pressbox before they would step on the field.
This proposal the Celtic Committee at once refused to entertain.
On Saturday the Committee stated they would suspend the three "malcontents" who would "never be allowed to kick a ball again for them" and further, that they would ask the Scottish Association Committee to exorcise their prerogative and confirm their suspensions.
** Footnote:- Blessington, Crossan and Gilhooley have all been credited the Celtic goal by different sources.
