Trivia
- After the joys of the European Cup in midweek it was back to League business. Bertie Auld came in for his first start of the season. Chalmers dropped to the bench.
- Raith keeper Reid was sent off for a foul on Lennox, and though both players contested the decision the referee was adamant the Raith keeper had to go.
- On the same day Celtic Reserves were away to Raith Rovers Reserves and beat them 2-1. The Celtic scorers were Connelly and Quinn.
Review
Bobby Murdoch got both goals on a day when Rangers lost to St Mirren thus dropping points. In truth Celtic were pretty lack-lustre in this game despite the return of midfield 'general' Auld as were most of the forwards bar Hughes who had an excellent game. There was never any doubt that Celtic would win but the team all round looked flat-footed.
