- This was a challenge match fixed up by Jock Stein for the Saturday with the Cup game to follow on the Sunday.
- Albion Rovers were managed by ex-Ranger Ralph Brand and coached by ex-Celtic Mike Jackson. All, the players were part-timers.
There are a number of players here on the Celtic side for which no record has yet been found:-
GK Taggart – not mentioned but there is a record in one of the Reserve matches prior to this game of Celtic playing 'Junior' in goal.
RB Delaney – no records
LB Williams – no records – there is of course the possibility that Evan Williams played outfield but this is unlikely given the seriousness of tone of Jock Stein in the clipping below.
Laird – no records
Given that Connelly, Johnstone, McNamara and MacDonald are clearly out of position then this just looks like a list of squad names than a team list and therefore the positions cannot be relied upon.
