Trivia
- The team that had won the Drybrough Cup were given the day off to go golfing and to prepare for the trip to West Germany.

- Tommy tried a few tricks and was hooked by an irate Jock Stein even although he was only 16 years old !
- The Accies were managed by a Celtic old bhoy – Eric Smith. Goalscorer Stevens was a midfielder and trialist with the Accies having been given a free transfer by Hibernian. Eric Smith snapped him up.
Review
Essentially a run-out for those that did not play in the Drybrough Cup Final for manager Stein to make his final choice on who to take to Germany. Connelly played well and booked a place along with Ally Hunter, Dixie Deans, Jackie McNamara and Jimmy Bone.
Celtic never really got out of first gear and the Accies provided all the goal mouth action with ex-Ranger Ralph Brand opening the scoring in the second half from the penalty spot.
