- Safe to say that everyone fancied a piece of Celtic now. The consistency and confidence were gone. Celtic badly needed this one not just to stay in touch at the top of the table but to raise the spirits around Parkhead.
- The team trained in the week under the watchful eye of Sean Fallon with Jock Stein down south with the Scotland U-23s who were due to play Wales with only Pat McCluskey in their ranks as the sole Celtic representative.
- Tommy Callaghan and Roddie MacDonald were out with 'flu. Back in came Ronnie Glavin and Billy McNeill. Glavin and Andy Lynch had both played in the midweek Reserves game.

Latchford's eccentric goalkeeping almost costs the game after he allows a 50 yard free kick to go over his head but Dalglish's perseverance and Hood's brilliant last minute free kick win the day for Celts.A beautiful free kick from Harry Hood and the crowd went mental!!
