Trivia
- Celtic wear badge on their hooped jerseys for the first time. (No evidence that we wore the badge on the shirts for the first time that night, meaningless friendly plus all the evidence points to the fly the flag game on the Saturday against Dundee Utd).
- Roy Aitken and Bobby Lennox both played for 45 minutes the same night at Dundee in a Testimonial for former Dundee player Doug Smith.
- This was Kenny Dalglish's last game for Celtic. What had been suspected for some time was finally acknowledged. Liverpool wanted him to replace Kevin Keegan who had been sold to Hamburg.A £350,000 transfer fee was rumoured.
Review
A large press corps turn up amongst the small crowd to witness Dalglish's last game in the hoops. He goes through the motions during the game and travels to a hotel immediately afterwards and signs for Liverpool for a British record £440,000 on one of Celtic's darkest days. Despite the rumours the Celtic fans are shocked and disappointed when the transfer is announced.
