Wilson and Burns' goals were top drawer and then Davidson scored twice to create an exciting finish. Sub Joe Craig clinches it in the final minute with a fine goal after a good run by John Doyle created the chance.

When Kenny Dalglish departed for pastures new Celtic manager Jock Stein asked each of his players for a little more. He got it – and Motherwell were sent sprawling out of the League Cup in a tremendous tie at Fir Park.
It was a real team job, Johnny Doyle turned on his best wing display for a year, Paul Wilson contributed with a goal and a brilliant assist, Ronnie Glavin's bursts from the midfield were gratefully received. Burns and McGrain were always around with the controlled ball and Edvaldsson's head was effective in the box.
It was a superb Celtic win, but they had to survive an astonishing late comeback from Motherwell. One inspired by Vic Davidson who hit two goals in five minutes to put the result into doubt until Joe Craig's last minute goal.
The goals which Celtic have been finding difficult to construct were all a little special on this occasion.
In 12 minutes, for instance, Paul Wilson, operating through the middle of the attack checked the exchanges of the Motherwell play with a real shock goal. He picked up a throw-in from Danny McGrain, allowed the ball to run to his left foot then hit it on the move from 20 yards.
Five minutes later, Edvaldsson hit the post with a tight, angular shot.
In 20 minutes, Celtic got a second goal after a superb move involving Glavin and Doyle. The winger's low cross shot was heading for the penalty spot when Motherwell half-back, Stewart McLaren tried to block it and instead sent it hurtling into the net.
There was a fair bit of traffic in substitutes after the interval with Kennedy and O'Neill replacing Wark and Marinello for Motherwell and Craig replacing Edvaldsson in the Celtic pack.
It didn't affect the rhythm of Celtic and in 66 minutes they scored again. Take a bow, Paul Wilson, he had a devastating run past three opponents which took him to the bye-line. His chip back to Burns left the redhead with a simple flick into the net. It was all over, or was it.
Motherwell had had three quite astonishing misses from Stevens, McLaren and Miller, but suddenly, Vic Davidson got it right. he beat Latchford with a speculative shot from 20 yards in 78 minutes. Then, five minutes later, he scored again from some six yards. a solid contribution from the real skillful player player on the field.
However, Doyle burst into the game once more in the final minute with a run and perfect pass to Joe Craig. The Celtic striker put the ball into the net off the Motherwell 'keeper and that was that.
