Review
Celtic destroyed their opponents with Conn on fire. Both he and Aitken scored two great goals apiece on a bright summer's afternoon. Conn got the first with a tap in after Latchford failed to hold a Glavin shot. Motherwell fought back and Marinello rounded latchford and though Edvaldsson raced back and tried to clear the ball he could only help it in.
With the frantic pace of the first half and an even scoreline the second was eagerly anticipated. A great piece of team work between Glavin, Conn and Aitken saw Roy finish powerfully to put Celtic in front. That was quickly followed by another superb goal with McAdam finishing. At 3-1 Celtic closed down and frustrated Motherwell but they added two further goals on the break to show that the team was on form.
This was an excellent team display with Doyle and Conn working the wings, Burns showing belief, Aitken able to attack and defend and everyone played their part.
