Having put up with Press assaults regularly, Jock Brown finally got his say when he published the book in May 1999. Up to that point Brown had been fairly quiet since resigning from Celtic and had really only given one interview.
Several large chunks of the book were published in Scotland on Sunday, who bought the serialisation rights to the book, in April 1999.
This book sets out to put his case and his views. Whatever you thought of Brown the man and Brown the Celtic employee this book needs to be read with an open mind. Yes it is a one-sided view but it is one side that very rarely gets presented all the bad press seemingly appearing against Jock Brown.
The book is quite an eye-opener. What does come through is the overwhelming arrogance of the man in his own defense but it also becomes clear that he was put into some very tricky positions which would have required Houdini-like ability to have escaped from without some kind of damage occurring.
