Celtic Career Review
From Rutherglen and attended St Margaret's Mary's School; in Castlemilk – New S-Form signing 93/94 season and played in the International Youth Tournament, Ayr June '94 for CBC U15 having joined CBC in 1991; Had been on several important Boys Club tours and tournaments and was recognised as one for the future.
Subsequently signed as Pro by Tommy Burns; contracted appendicitis in December 1996 following time out with a thigh strain; previous season had been curtailed through glandular fever.
Released 7/5/99; signed for Queens Park as a part-timer 28/8/99 whilst pursuing a career in other areas – something which at times kept him out of the team; was still with them and still playing as at 2001 but left before August 2002 to pursue career whilst playing Junior football first with a trial at Pollok.
Played for Central Scotland Amateurs as a sub in the UEFA Regions tournament August 2006; he played as a forward for Drumchapel United in 2007-08 finishing top of their division in the Scottish AFA.
Tragically found dead in his Mother's house in Castlemilk in June 2008. Paul had been suffering personal problems and left a four year old son Liam. When Celtic and Queen's Park met in a February 2009 SFA Cup match, a tribute dinner and supporters' quiz was arranged to raise money for the Paul Borland Trust.
