Biog
Footballing son of Jim Casey, who had no sooner emerged from the youth academy before he was spirited away to Harry Redknapp's resurgent Portsmouth in the summer of 2001. A whole-hearted defensive midfielder.
Despite training alongside Robert Prosinecki, Peter Crouch et al. young Casey failed to make the first team and was eventually loaned to St. Patrick's Athletic for the 2004 season. Upon the 2005 expiry of his contract at 'Pompey' he had a trial at Berwick Rangers then went Semi-Pro with Ayr United, where he became a first team regular.
He didn't have his problems to seek during his time in Ayrshire as work commitments increasingly curtailed his appearances and repeated road traffic offences landed him in hot water with plod. The gutter press took great delight in announcing an eventual ten week jail sentence for the "boozy soccer ace" in November 2008.
Subsequently stepped down to Glenafton Athletic Juniors midway through 2007/8 – where outside commitments again restricted him – before turning out for Albion Rovers on the opening day of 2008/09 and lasting just half an hour before being injured and substituted.
Last seen in June 2009 attending Clyde FC's 'X-factor style' open trials. Was taken on by the 'bully wee' but failed to shine as John 'bomber' Brown guided the club to a distant last-placed finish and a second successive relegation.
Re-instated to Bellshill Athletic Juniors in the January 2010 transfer window.
