Celtic v Kilmarnock Athletic – Played at Parkhead, Glasgow. The Celtic scored two goals in the first half. In the opening minutes of the second half the Kilmarnock pressed, but their opponents getting away on the right, after a brilliant run, scored. The Celts, though they defended well, did not force the game any, while the Kilmarnock strove hard to open, but without success, and a very uneventful game ended – Celtic, three goals; Kilmarnock Athletic, nil.

CELTIC v KILMARNOCK ATHLETIC – Played on Celtic Park. Celtic – Duff, Reynolds, Doyle, Maley, Kelly, Dowds, Brady, McCallum, Madden, McMahon and Campbell. Kilmarnock Athletic – Armour, P Maxwell, McLintock, Muirhead, F Maxwell, Gould, Hillhouse, McGill, Wills, Adams and Wark. Wills, late Third Lanark, set the ball in motion, the pass being taken up by Hillhouse, who, with the assistance of M’Gill, got through the defence, but Duff cleverly cleared. The Celts’ mechanical movements were now brought into force and Armour, after turning out some likely shots, had his vigilance eluded by Brady, the ball striking Maxwell on its journey. The game was now prominent for the amount of pressure the visitors had to withstand against, but it clearly proved the value of their defence as the Celts failed to cut it down. Again the Celts took the game in hand, and this time made no mistake, Dowds scoring with a shot twenty yards out. The Celts continued to have the game, and at half time the teams crossed over with the score in favour of the Celts by 2 goals to 0. At half time the spectators numbered about 800. The Celts resumed play, and in a twinkling were down at Armour, who tipped out one of Madden’s shots from underneath the bar. The visitors were equally smart in getting down to the other end, where they were held safely by Doyle, whose huge kick was converted late a goal by McLintock, who, in attempting to turn aside a swift shot by Brady, put the ball through his own goal. The result was:- Celtic 3 goals; Kilmarnock Athletic 0 goals

AN EASY DROP FOR THE KILMARNOCK ATHLETIC
The Scottish tie at Parkhead did not prove the usual attraction which is an outstanding feature of Celtic Park. The crowd was small at first, but gradually increased as the game went on. The ground was soft. After the first few minutes had gone of the tie the Celtic came away in bright style, and Brady, as their friends supposed, began to pop them on. The Celtic were seldom out of the visitors' ground. Over and over again they shot, but Armour, the opposing goalkeeper, defied them, and during the first half was only beaten once again by Dowds, who sent in a deceptive shot from half. The second portion was more evenly contested, but the Celts went in for a lot of tricky play. Brady took another goal ere the finish, and the tie ended 3 to 1[sic] in favour of the Celtic.
