Review

Queen`s Park needed just a draw at Parkhead to claim the Glasgow League – they battered Celtic by four goals to none and Bob Hamilton became the first player to score four goals in Glasgow`s East End. The game had barely started when Rob Lambie rounded Dan Doyle and flung over a peach of a cross which Hamilton neatly headed past Dan McArthur. Hamilton`s solo run ended with him making it two to none and there it stood at the half time break. The Spiders continued to have much the better of exchanges and it came as no surprise when Bob McColl dribbled half the length of the field, leaving the home defence bemused and slipped a pass to Hamilton who had the simplest of jobs scoring a third goal on the hour mark. And in a few more minutes he was on target again and Queen`s coasted home to the title. The League awarded Queen`s £5 to help buy a flag.

The only other visitor to score four goals at Celtic Park was co-incidentally another Hamilton, Aberdeen`s George in a league win in January 1947.
