Review
Celtic lose by three goals to one as Fir Park is opened for the new season. Celtic's new signing Willie Loney (still spelled as "Lonie" in the match reports) is given what may well have been his first run out in a friendly or reserve game (scoring the opening goal in the process with a powerfully struck shot), whilst the young Jimmy McMenemy – who would not sign for Celtic until 1902 – is given his first trial at Celtic Football Club.
