Review
From newspaper reports from the time.
At Celtic Park, Glasgow, in the presence of 8000 spectators. Celtic were without Weir, Loney, and Kivlichan, while Partick Thistle played their latest capture, Lowrie, of Glasgow Perthshire at centre forward.
Partick Thistle started with great dash, and Duncan’s charge underwent several narrow escapes, both Graham and Lowrie missing narrowly.
For a time the Celtic forwards were a bit disjointed, but latterly they combined better, McMenemy tricked several opponents, and sent well ahead to Quinn, who, although challenged by McKenzie, beat Howden with a low shot.
For a long time play was mostly confined to the visitors’ end, and that Celtic were prevented from further scoring was mainly due to the grand defensive play of Parry, Raisbeck and McKenzie.
Quinn added a second goal, and at half-time Celts led 2-0.
On resuming, the Thistle were very lively, Callaghan particularly so, and the right-winger, besides having some fine runs, put across many fine centres, which were not used to the best advantage.
Duncan brought off a fine save from Lowrie, and next Parry had hard lines with a great drive.
Quinn, with a characteristic run, beat Howden a third time, and just before the finish, Atkinson scored for the Thistle.
