Celtic v. St. Mirren.
At Glasgow, before 6000 spectators. Quinn reappeared for the home side, and Gallacher (late Clydebank) their latest recruit, partnered M’Atee on the right wing. Starting with a strong wind behind them, the St Mirren had the better of the opening exchanges, and the Celtic defence experienced some difficulty in keeping the opposing forwards in check. The home halves had so much to do in the way of defending that they were unable to attend to their own forwards, who could make little headway, Callaghan opened the scoring for the Saints, with a shot that Adams got no chance with. Following this the Celtic goal had another narrow escape, Adams saving twice in succession while lying on the ground. From this point to the interval the Celts monopolised the play, and although the outside men put across some accurate centres, the inside men did not respond, and it was near the interval before Donaldson headed the equaliser. The Celts restarted in business-like fashion, and within a minute the crossbar came to the rescue of the Paisley side. Loney’s shot was a grand one, and deserved a goal. The Celts monopolised play, and after a series of scrimmages, and several corners had been Placed, Johnston gave his side the lead. To the finish the Celtic had all the play, and near the close got a third goal Result – Celtic , three goals; St Mirren, one.
