CELTIC AS LEAGUE CHAMPIONS.
For the greater part of the season it looked as if Heart of Midlothian were destined to win the championship of the Scottish League. Recently, however, the Eastern club has lost the capacity for winning matches, and the victory of Celtic over Third Lanark on Saturday combined with the defeat of the Hearts by St Mirren finally gave the Parkhead team the first place in the table with 64 points and a match still to play, against the 61 points gained by the Hearts with their programme completed.
Celtic made certain of the League Championship by defeating Third Lanark in a convincing manner. The Parkhead team were the superior side throughout, and scoring twice in each half won somewhat easily.
