The Glasgow Herald, Monday 11th January, 1916
There is nothing in the present form of Celtic and Rangers to hearten the officials of other clubs with possible designs on the championship.
DUMBARTON FLATERED
At any rate, both won with consummate ease on Saturday though 2-1, the result of Celts visit to Dumbarton, does not indicate so much. Yet the home team were completely dominated by the champions as were Motherwell beaten 4-1 by Rangers at Ibrox. The disparity in the score was the result of McColl’s incapacity to utilise golden opportunities, and of Reid’s effectiveness when asked to crown the work of others. The Celtic centre-forward presumably tops the list of goal scorers, as his club leads all others, but the individual lacks the consistency of the eleven, and the player who scores three against Queen’s Park when goals are of little value, finds it impossible to score one against Dumbarton, and it is left to one of his halfbacks to register the all important point.
