Trivia
- A strong home performance from Celtic continues their winning run though the brief report in the Glasgow Herald states the scoreline didn’t reflect the difference between the teams. LINK
- Also in the Herald is a report from the Scottish council of the Labour Party conference in Glasgow where a resolution by James Maxton to impeach Winston Churchill for his warmongering, without parliamentary approval, in Russia, was carried unanimously.
- Again in the Herald a report of a party of 80 Sinn Fein members who camped in Campsie Glen and marched in military fashion to mass at Lennoxtown before the police intervened on behalf of the landowner and made them remove their tents.

Match report from The Scotsman, 27th September 1920
A crowd of about 15,000 witnessed the game between Celtic and Ayr United at Celtic Park, Glasgow. Celtic were the superior side throughout, and only for about ten minutes in the second half did the visitors seriously threaten the opposition. The Celts played delightful football in the first half, and had the forwards taken their chances they would have been well ahead at the interval, but it was just before the cross-over that McAtee managed to beat Nisbet from a freekick outside the penalty line. Immediately on resuming, Cassidy notched a second goal but Ayr came away strongly, and Rutherford succeeded in reducing the lead. Eight minutes from the finish McInally settled the issue by scoring a third goal.
