[…] Close on 12,000 spectators witnessed Celtic defeat Albion Rovers at Parkhead, Glasgow. It was a very even first half, with both sets of defenders playing a strong game. After twenty-two minutes McInally succeeded in heading a cross from McAtee into the net. Four minutes after Geddes equalised following a corner kick. After this the Celtic outplayed their opponents, and only the splendid defensive tactics of Penman, McColgan, and McSkimming kept down the score. Gilchrist scored a grand second goal, and fifteen minutes from the finish Gallacher, who was Celtic’s most dangerous forward, got a third point. The Rovers’ forwards were rarely seen in the game, and Reid had few chances of getting in a shot.

Celtic were also engaged with a Lanarkshire representative, Albion Rovers, who it will be recalled defeated the Parkhead club in the corresponding fixture last term. Celtic like most other clubs, are carrying a considerable list of players injured, and in view of this game and their big encounter with Rangers next Saturday spent last week at the coast for the purpose of recuperation. Dodds and McLean were not sufficiently recovered to resume against Albion Rovers, but the team generally benefited by their sojourn at the seaside, and gave one of their best displays. With the exception of half an hour in the first portion the game provided an enjoyable and refreshing display, and did credit to both sides. Celtic lead at the interval by a goal headed by McInally, and Albion Rovers equalised, also from a header, three minutes after the resumption. From that point onwards play improved in pace and skill, and must have satisfied the spectators. Gilchrist, from half-back scored a second goal for Celtic, and a third point from Gallagher, the finest forward in the game, 15 minutes from the end, gave Celtic a two-goal victory, which fairly represented the merits of the contestants.
