Match report from The Scotsman, 5th December 1921

[…] A fast and interesting game was seen at Celtic Park,Glasgow, where the Airdrieonians opposed the Celtic. Throughout the game the Celtic were the superior side, but the visitors’ defence put [up] a great game, and only fifteen minutes remained for play when Cassidy succeeded in scoring the only goal of the game with a brilliant drive. The Airdrie forwards showed some nice football, [but] they were well held by the Celtic half-backs, and never allowed to get in on Shaw. The attendance was about 10,000.

The Glasgow Herald – Dec 5, 1921

Home clubs had a veritable field day, no fewer than eight winning outright, only Ayr United and Raith Rovers sharing with Motherwell the distinction of winning from home. Singularly not a drawn game occurred in the eleven matches. In various instances the results were against form and expectation, and this applies even to the engagement at Parkhead, which Celtic only just managed to win near the close of play. Airdrieonians, the visitors to Celtic Park, have played so indifferently so far that they were expected to be overwhelmed by Celtic, especially as the latter were reinforced by the return of Gallagher and McLean, and the Lanarkshire club’s success in holding their renowned opponents so well is the best thing they have done in the campaign.
