FOUR PENALTY KICKS AT PARKHEAD
A remarkable game was witnessed at Celtic Park, Glasgow, where Falkirk repeated last year’s performance by holding the Celtic in check. At times the play was rough, and four penalty kicks were awarded and one player ordered off the field. There was not much between the sides, but the keen tackling of the half-backs prevented the forwards from showing football of a high class. Just before the interval the Celtic were awarded their first penalty kick, but Ferguson saved W. McStay’s shot, and the interval arrived without scoring.Seven minutes after the restart Puddefoot was fouled by McNair, and a penalty kick was awarded. Scott came forward and placed the ball in the net well out of Shaw’s reach. Midway through this half Cassidy was brought down by Hunter when making for goal and Referee Dougary pointed to the spot. W. McStay again took the kick, which Ferguson saved, but the back followed up and sliced the ball in the net. With fully ten minutes to go Gallacher was badly fouled by Scott, and had to go to the touchline for attention. Scott was ordered off the field, and a third penalty kick awarded Celtic. Ferguson and McStay were again the principals, and once again the goalkeeper triumphed by saving brilliantly. Ferguson, Hunter , Townsley, Puddefoot, and Glancy were best in a strong Falkirk side that deserved the draw. The attendance would be 15,000.

Four Penalty Kicks
A somewhat sudden visitation of fog on Saturday threatened a general dislocation of the games. Play at Ibrox in the big game was begun in bright sunshine, but shortly after the interval fog almost enveloped the ground, though fortunately it cleared away and the match was carried to a close. It was otherwise on the north side of the river, where the referee found it impossible to make a start with the Partick Thistle-St Mirren game owing to insufficient light. Similar conditions were encountered at Airdrie, and the Airdrieonians-Third Lanark fixture had also to be postponed, so that only eight First Division fixtures were fulfilled. The meeting of the champions, Celtic, with Falkirk, formed one of the outstanding engagements, and the spectators witnessed a stirring encounter, in which the probably unprecedented spectacle of four penalty awards was seen. The first of these fell to Celtic five minutes from the interval, and the kick was saved by Ferguson, the visitors’ goalkeeper. Early on the restart Falkirk turned a similar award to full account, and W. McStay equalised the scores from the second penalty given Celtic, the Falkirk goalkeeper stopping the initial shot by McStay, but being beaten by the same player, to whom the ball rebounded. A third penalty was also entrusted to McStay, and was successfully repelled by the visiting goalkeeper, and the game finished with a division of the points. Notwithstanding the excitement engendered by the penalty kicks, the display was one of the best witnessed at Celtic Park this season, and creditable to both teams.
