Match report from The Scotsman, September 17th 1923

RANGERS BEAT THE CELTIC
The Rangers' second half superiority over Celtic at Ibrox Park, in the semi-final of the Glasgow Cup, clearly entitled them to their victory. In the first half, when Celtic had the wind, they shaped splendidly, despite the handicap imposed upon them by the absence of Cassidy, who was suffering from an injured leg, McGee, a young Eaglesham recruit, who was given the centre-forward position, showed some cleverness, but he did not possess the resource of Cassidy. After the interval the Rangers' half-backs took a good grip of the visitors' forwards. This enabled the home attack to settle down, and after Shaw made some desperate saves he was beaten by a great drive by Henderson. The game was contested at a fast pace, and was interesting from start to finish. Attendance 35,000.
