POINTS DIVIDED AT PARKHEAD
The wind proved troublesome at Celtic Park, Glasgow, where Airdrieonians, after a plucky fight, succeeded in taking away a point. Celtic had the wind behind them during the first half and play was never far away from the Airdrie goal, but the strong play of the visiting defenders kept the Celtic forwards from getting in on Ewart. McLean was clever on the Celtic left, and after giving Ewart a hot shot to hold, he cleverly forced a corner. The ball was placed nicely into goal, and Cassidy jumping up, headed the ball into the net. Early in the second half McLean made a fine opening for Cassidy, and the centre was making straight for goal, when he was brought down. from the penalty kick W. McStay again beat Ewart. It was after this that Airdrie proved their worth. They pressed hard on the Celtic goal. but the fine play of McNair and Hilley kept them out until ten minutes from the finish when Somerville got an opening, and beat Shaw. Four minutes from the finish Somerville, amidst great excitement, again beat Shaw. The attendance would be 8000.

Airdrieonians’ Recovery
Rangers’ position in the League was made more commanding, not only by their triumph at Firhill but also by happenings in other fields as Celtic, Airdrieonians, and Raith Rovers were each concerned in drawn games. Airdrieonians however, though losing a point at Celtic Park, came back into favour by the spirited and capable display they gave. Celtic established what looked like a winning two goals, but the Lanarkshire team with a fine closing effort drew level, a splendid achievement when it is recalled that Rangers, the previous week failed to pierce the Celtic defence, and that in six successive games previously Celtic had not yielded one goal.
Celtic were first prominent, Connolly sending in a hard shot that Ewart saved with difficulty, and McQueen cleared from Cassidy’s return. After a brief raid by Airdrieonians the home side returned and Cassidy opened the scoring. Early in the second half the visitors were awarded a free kick, but it came to nothing. A penalty to Celtic was converted by W. McStay. Airdrieonians afterwards rallied, and Somerville beat Shaw. They got their second goal from a header by Somerville, and this finished the scoring.
