The Glasgow Herald – March 24, 1924
Celtic met with another reverse on Saturday, when at Kirkcaldy they went down before Raith Rovers, and the defeat definitely closed Celtic’s Championship prospects. Beaten by the only goal scored at Kirkcaldy, the Glasgow club played below reputation, and on the form showed can scarcely hope to prevent Airdrieonians from finishing as runners-up.
Raith Rovers opened with great dash and the Celtic defence was severely tested. Celtic rallied, but they were unable to penetrate the home defence, and there was no scoring before the interval. In the second half play was even, but midway through, James beat Shaw from 30 yards. Celtic made great efforts to secure a draw, but failed to beat down the Raith Rovers defence.
