Review
One of the predominant sites, it helped to push humourous and intelligent conversation on issues that revolved around Celtic, and became the an early prime site for anyone interested in anything to do with Celtic.
It's first foray into the world of forums was a huge success, starting with the simple java based chat before encompassing the modern style. However, it became too popular and had to be shut down as the moderators could not manage the forum and their server could not handle it. That led to the creation of the www.kerrydalestreet.co.uk forum as former members left to create it. It was hoped that E-Tims would quickly restart a forum but as time went on, people were happy with how things were.
Nevertheless, E-Tims carried on with many great articles, many even contentious (once describing www.thehuddleboard.com as for Neds), but always relevant.
The site is famed for it's weekly Friday Rumour Mill. As the name states, it's just a long list of insider gossips & truths/lies. Most humourous but always irking to those it refers to.
A good site much recommended to all.
E-tims – Written by Gaudd (Thursday, 02 August 2007)
In 1999 the decision was taken to recreate the site as an online fanzine, and the original format stuck close to that of a hardcopy publication. It was a short-lived exercise that involved a hideous green graphic of Robby The Robot from the film Forbidden Planet, before sanity took over and the site settled into the trailblazer format so lovingly adopted by a host of other sites. Yes we're claiming that credit… if its actually a credit. The founding principle of the E-tims website was that there would be no set agenda, no preaching for a particular cause, simply a platform for supporters to voice their opinions regardless of popularity or even merit.
A conscious decision was taken right at the beginning to recruit team members and contributors who had totally different outlooks on various aspects of the club, that may come as a bit of a surprise but we feel it worked – most of the time… there was the odd thrown teacup…and stabbing…burned houses….genocidal pogroms….but most of the time if worked.Another, but equal founding principle was independence.
The E-tims has never compromised itself by falling too closely into the comfort zone of ego pandering. We believe that a truly unofficial site has to maintain a decent distance from those running the club, preferably involving a moat and razorwire. You also will find no corporate leaching on this site, no ads save those for good causes we chose to place. No one can buy us, not that anyone has actually tried which is a little galling come to think of it. Since the early heady days the E-tims has gained a reputation for cutting humour, and a willingness to address issues that others won't touch with the proverbial barge pole. The fact that often conflicting opinion pieces can appear on the site tends to confuse those who are ignorant of the site ethos, equally the fact that articles may not be the views of those involved with the site – or indeed any sentient being – is just one of those little quirks we so lovingly cherish.
We invite contributions after all, and as long as the piece is well-written and won't see us all clapped in the pokey or left destitute after several court trials, then we'll publish and be damned.ETims hascome a long way from our early beginnings, however the founding principles have never been compromised, and we're rather proud of that. ETims welcomes feedback – positive and negative – and sure if you think you can do better – hell why not start a blog? Who knows where it may lead…Anyway – seriously big thanks to anyone who stops by the site.
We hope you enjoy it and appreciate the effort.
