Gigs at Celtic Park
Celtic Park has been used as a concert venue on numerous occasions in the past.
Yet since completion of the redevelopment in the mid nineties, the stadium has not been used as a major gig venue. Hampden and increasingly Murrayfield in Edinburgh have been used instead.
As football has become a 24/7 and 365 day a year competition, it is difficult to schedule a gig as turnover can be difficult unless the stadium is fully modern designed to adjust (e.g. Wembley).
Below are some of the more notable concerts to have been held at the ground:
Concerts held at Celtic Park:
- The Who (1976)
- Prince (1992)
- Bryan Adams (1992)
- U2 (1993)
- Wet Wet Wet (1997)
Note:
- Paul McCartney (2003) disappointed fans in Scotland when a gig planned to be played at Celtic Park – part of his Back To The World tour – was shelved.
