Scott Cuthbert is a strong uncompromising Central Defender who has been attached to Celtic since he was eleven years old.Scott was born in Alexandria in Dunbartonshire on 15th June,1987.
Scott has come through the ranks with Celtic playing for all the various age groups,he signed professional terms on 1st August,2003.Scott progressed well and subsequently rose to become the Captain of the very successful Celtic Reserve side under the management of Willie McStay. He had a month on loan to Livingston in season 2006/2007.Following that Scott made his First Team debut in a pre season friendly against Manchester City on 7th August 2008 at Celtic Park. A month later he was loaned out to St.Mirren to gain first team experience and has been one of their star players during the 2008/2009 season.
Scott has Captained Scotland at Under 19 level and led the team to the UEFA Under 19 Championships in Portugal in 2006 where under Cuthbert's leadership the Scot's eventually lost 2-1 to Spain in the Final of the tournament..Alongside him that day in the Final were fellow Celts – Simon Ferry,Ryan Conroy,Charlie Grant and Scott Fox.Scott then moved up a level and Captained the Scotland Under 20's..
To date Scott Cuthbert has also earned eight Scotland Under 21 Caps and a Scotland "B" Cap playing in a 3-0 victory against Northern Ireland at Broadwood Stadium.
Although still on loan at St.Mirren at the end of season 2008/2009 Scott still has a year of his contract with Celtic to run and in a recent article he stated it was his intention to return for pre-season training with Celtic in July as he still is determined to make it with the Hoops.
However in July 2009 Cuthbert was transferred to Swindon Town signing a two year deal for a fee of around £100k which with "add ons" depending on appearances could rise to £300,000..
We wish him well for the future.
