Mick Doyle joined the club at the start of the 99/00 season. He played in the U18 tournament in Germany in August and had a good season for a strong developing midfielder. He also won a good number of U21 spots this season too. He continued to develop through the squads and in 00/01 went on pre-season tour with the first team and made a representative debut against Shelbourne where he scored. That season he went on loan with Liam Miller to Aarhus in Denmark, coached by ex-Celt Marc Reiper. He came back a stronger and keener player for the experience there and was awarded a new contract to June 2004.
In 02/03 he again started pre-season with the first team making several appearances in Friendlies but at the start of the season he returned to playing for the Reserves. However by mid-season he was informed by the club that he had no future at Celtic and was given a free transfer on 14/3/03.
He went to Coventry City on a 2 year contract and has been with them ever since. He now captains the side.
He gained a senior cap with the Ireland team on 5th June 2004 against Chile.
After enjoying 6 good seasons with Coventry he was relieved of the captaincy by new boss Chris Coleman and went on loan to Leeds Utd for the whole of the 2009/10 season when Coleman said he could not guarantee him first team football.
