Romanian prospect signed from youth outfit Atletico Arad after impressing on trial. He arrived on trial in December 2007 along with another fellow by the name of George Tucudean. Seemingly the 'Stellar Group' player agency were involved, whom one year previously had transferred another Romanian 'wunderkind' (Dumitru Copil) to Heart of Midlothian amidst much publicity and glib comparisons to the great Gheorghe Hagi. Also Marian Pop and 'Yureuv' came and played in Celtic's U16 Academy team towards the end of 2006/07.
As of June 2009, Copil and Tucudean appear to be back playing for UT Arad, a second division club in their home city near the Hungarian border. Marian Pop is with FC Ploiesti.
Filaret appears to have left Celtic after around six months – despite media talk of five year contracts and £125,000 transfer fees – and he joined Nottingham Forest's Academy on trial ahead of the January 2009 transfer window. Now believed to be back in Romania where Celtic continue to monitor his progress.
He finished the season on loan to second division ACU Arad from his nursery club Atletico Arad. This was on the proviso that he could up sticks and leave should he get another offer from a foreign club.
In 2010 it was revealed that Filaret's Romanian club had "urgently summoned" him home from Celtic in October 2008 after "differences of financial" between the clubs. Filaret (and Purece, Tucudean) is playing for Gloria Arad in 2010-11.
