Sandy Fraser was a member of Celtic youth and Reserve teams in the early to mid-80's.
A forward, he had come to the club through the usual route from Celtic Boys Club having previously played for Hamilton Thistle. He joined the club as a 16 year old straight from school and spent his first few years as an apprentice at a time when there was no youth league set-up in Scotland. In 84/85 he was out injured for three months with a broken shin but came back into contention in 85/86 playing regularly for the Reserves and for the newly formed U18's as well as in the BP Youth Tournament. At the end of that season he went with a Celtic party to the Blue Star U-20 Youth Tournament in Zurich and the Tournament Espoirs (U-21) in Geneva, winning praise at the latter tournament.
He was thought to have a good chance of making it into the full team and was highly thought of by the Youth and Reserve coaches, Bobby Lennox, Jimmy Johnstone and Bobby Murdoch, being described as "…..having an uncanny ability to find the back of the net". However in September 1987 he was released by the club without having played a senior game. He joined Hamilton Accies for a couple of seasons before departing to play for Portadown.
He made his name as a canny striker at Shamrock Park before transferring to Derry City and then joining Glenavon and Omagh.
He reportedly left Omagh in 1998 to stay in Greece. In 2000-01 he featured for Ayrshire Juniors Ardeer Thistle.
