Biog

James Inglis was a defender and well-known in local football circles in the Stirlingshire area.

He was a sergeant in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders team. This included playing matches at Hampden Park. Inglis also turned out for other Scottish teams, including Motherwell.

The player appears to have made only one Celtic appearance, in a friendly match against Sunderland (2-4 loss for Celtic) during an English tour in 1897. He partnered Dan Doyle in this game.

During Inglis’ military career, he was stationed in India, Hong Kong and South Africa. He received a Distinguished Conduct medal during the Boer War.
