Scottish junior international Peter Jack is one of that band of players to have made just a solitary competitive appearance for the Bhoys. He was said to be of “pluck and judgement“.
He was a Scottish junior international who reportedly had known “unqualified success” against junior England just the week before his solitary game with Celtic.
The centre-forward’s only competitive game with Celtic came as a trialist in a 1-1 league draw at Rangers on 23rd March 1895. Peter Jack replaced Johnny Madden – who was on international duty with Scotland – in the Celtic line-up but Peter Jack was to never again appear for the Celtic First Team.
Still he managed a Celtic career with a game against Rangers, which in time we’re sure will have been something to fondly look back upon, and was unbeaten too.
Hearts won the league that season, 5pts clear of Celtic who came second.
He later the same year went on to play for Vale of Clyde and Airdrie (who were in the second tier).
