George Best in the hoops
“George Best pulled on the Hoops for a match while on a visit to Australia. The Irishman lined up for a CSC and wore the club’s centenary strip for the game. Whether he scored or not is unknown, but we’re sure he would have done justice to the Hoops” – Celtic View (Aug 2008)

Wayne Rooney Reveals Celtic Wish
By Aaron -May 28, 2024
Wayne Rooney, the newly appointed manager of Plymouth Argyle and a former Manchester United star, opened up about his illustrious playing career and one significant regret in a conversation on Gary Neville’s “The Overlap”.
During a scenic walk, Neville, a former teammate and long-time friend, probed Rooney on various aspects of his career, leading to a surprising revelation about the club Rooney wished he had played for Celtic.
Rooney, whose football journey is marked by record-setting achievements at both Manchester United and the England national team, expressed a clear and immediate preference for Celtic when asked about any clubs he wished he had the opportunity to represent.
“Celtic,” Rooney stated without hesitation when asked by Neville which club he wished he had played for during his playing days.
It’s a brilliant fascinating “what if” scenario. He was a tremendous player, what could he have achieved at Celtic?
Having been the all-time top scorer for Manchester United and England, Rooney’s potential stint at Celtic could have been monumental for both the player and the club, potentially influencing domestic competitions and European campaigns.

“I have a Celtic jersey at home. The games against Celtic were special and I want to remember them. Celtic Park is a tough place to go to, it is never easy to get a result there. It is the best atmosphere in Europe and we all want to experience that again.” Messi
